Bedcovering
Bedcovering styles for the Accommodation Industry, now a fashion statement!
In an endeavour by many property owners to create a higher standard in their rooms and to inject a whole new look in to this accommodation industry, Bedcovering is the big winner.
Upgrading the exterior or undergoing a total interior refurbishment of an accommodation property is a serious expense commitment, which is only considered when absolutely necessary. To freshen up the image of a property which is in reasonable condition, albeit “a bit boring’, the above expense items are way out of the question. However, there are many cases where an inexpensive bed makeover, which is the focal point of any hotel room, can be the catalyst in improving a guest’s perception or appreciation of the property.
The choice of accommodation bedcovering styles now available in Australia is almost endless and the offering is very similar in style to domestic bedcovering. The style is where the similarity stops, as we all know the quality of the product required for accommodation is very different. Making an expensive mistake by saving a dollar with domestic product will cost you in the very near future when the product needs replacing after a short period.
These latest choices in bedcovering styles include the following,
1 Narrow channelled Hotel Coverlets, which are quilted across the bed thus allowing the product to fold like a piano hinge on the quilt line and to present as a neat bed runner which can be easily pulled up if required. It can also be displayed as a stylish fully tucked in coverlet.

2 Reversible quilted Bed Runners which can look more substantial and luxurious in certain properties, than the typical flat hotel bed runner.

3 The Luxury Cover is an extended reversible bed runner normally unquilted, which starts at the foot of a bed and can cover the top or third sheet anywhere from 130 cms to 180 cms up the bed towards the pillow cases. The sides are long enough to hang down past the mattress or they can be neatly tucked.

4 The Hotel Bed Wrap is a very cost effective unquilted wide width bedcover with no joins. The bed wrap is made from a substantial semi upholstery fabric which simply tucks in three sides like a third flat sheet. This style of bedcovering is more suited to a modern decor requiring a very affordable yet stylish form of dressing a bed. The fabrics are all fully washable, however unlike a third sheet which must be laundered for every guest, the hotel bed wrap only needs laundering as required.
5 White Quilt Covers and Third Flat Sheets are still very popular in many sectors of hotel accommodation, however the maintenance of this look can be high and these products are discussed in more detail further on.
6 Hotels Cushions and Picket Quilted Valances. All of the above bedcovering products are taken to the next level of presentation when they are displayed with a coordinating picket quilted valance or hotel cushion. The hotel cushion is no longer a basic 40 cm X 40 cm product which looks like it may have come from a cheap retail store. The new look and shape in hotel cushions is an elongated rectangular product which makes the bed appear to be wider and the cushion inner is reinforced to ensure the shape is maintained for the life of the product. Tightly packed round cushions and large bolsters are also becoming popular with five star establishments.
7 The Bedspread is back! Whilst all of the above bedcovering styles are taking this accommodation industry to new heights in this country, there is no doubt that the oldest form of accommodation bedcovering from 3 star to 5 star is making a huge comeback for all sorts of reasons.
